The Devil’s Advocate is a bar & restaurant in the historic and atmospheric Old Town of Edinburgh.  Situated in an old Victorian pump house hidden away up Advocate’s Close. Featuring a mezzanine dining area and a 300 strong whisk(e)y shelf, our food menu boasts seasonal and Scottish ingredients that change regularly.

We are open 7 days between 12pm and 12am Sunday to Thursday and 12pm to 1am Friday and Saturday. Food is served from Midday until 9.30pm. Our Terrace is open from Midday until 10pm.

Please note, guests under 18 years old must be dining & accompanied by an adult. Due to the historic location, there are a number of stairs to gain access to The Devil’s Advocate so will not be accessible to everyone. We also welcome dogs on our terrace and in the bar but unfortunately they cannot be accommodated in the restaurant. If you are bringing a dog please call or email to book a table and we’ll do our best to accommodate.

The bar holds an eclectic collection of over 300 Scottish and world whiskies. Our multiple award winning bartenders also serve inventive seasonal cocktails, a considered wine list and selected craft beers.

The kitchen team enjoy creating lunch and dinner menus that hold true to the quality, seasonal Scottish produce whilst providing a modern dining experience.
